A purpose-built home in a quiet location on the outskirts of a conservation area in Enfield. They offer a range of care tailored to residents needs delivered by qualified nurses and care staff.

Completed in 2011, the building is designed and furnished to the highest standards, and offers a relaxing environment, excellent leisure activities and personal support when needed.

THE ROLE:

To take the lead of an expanding 8 bed unit for High Dependency care with Trachi and Vents etc. Support the General Manager in all aspects of the home’s management, including taking temporary charge during the absence of the General Manager or Assistant General Manager.

To enable residents to live in a manner similar to their usual home life. Maintaining the resident independence, choice, and privacy at all times, oversee and assist in all aspects of nursing care and activities for the residents where necessary making decisions related to the care provided to residents. To promote and maintain excellent communications with all internal and external parties.
To provide clinical leadership within the Nursing and Care Team on all issues relating to clinical excellence, liaising with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Senior Staff, on all matters impacting upon the business.
Providing direction and support to all carers within the home.

Principal Accountabilities and Activities

• Acts in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• To work within the Nursing team delivering direct care as rota with supported supernummery time to assist in the general day to day management of the home under the guidance of the General Manager
• To assess the individual needs of residents and ensure that they receive the highest standards of holistic care and attention appropriate to their needs.
• To ensure that the day to day running of the care aspects of the Home is in accordance with management policies, quality systems and to ensure compliance with statutory bodies and the Care Homes Regulators in particular.
• To give guidance and training to the staff and to provide clinical support and direction as required.
• To give guidance and training to ancillary staff thus ensuring a solid working environment.
• To be involved with residents’ activities both in and out of the Home and encourage leisure pursuits accordingly.
• To act up for the General Manager when required and provide administrative cover out of hours, taking charge of the Home in rotation with the general Manager. At these times to be responsible for the smooth running of the Home in all areas.
• Be responsible for ensuring the staff rosters meet the needs of the home and comply with the budgetary requirements.
• To order and maintain the supplies required to include nursing supplies within the budgetary guidelines set by the Home Manager.
• To ensure person centred care plans are completed for all residents as soon as possible after admission whenever possible, consulting with the resident and/or relative. Ensure care plans are evaluated and reviewed regularly.
• To maintain and promote relationships with General Practitioners and Primary Care Team in the local community.
• Responsible for and in accordance with company policy. Keep strict control of recording, ordering and the return of medication to the pharmacy.
• To deploy staff efficiently in relation to care/ancillary duties to be covered by setting up and controlling the duty rota.
• To establish good personal relationships with residents and their families. To undertake on call requirements as agreed with the General Manager.
• Assist as necessary in the recruitment of staff in consultation with the General Manager and in accordance with company policies, arrange orientation and induction programs for all new staff.
• Carry out supported sessions using the Employee Support Framework, identifying training needs to meet personal development.
• Assist in the marketing and promotion of the Home to maintain high occupancy. Attend promotional functions as requested. Take every opportunity to promote the Home. Ensure any vacant rooms are ready for viewing at all times. Escort prospective clients or relatives around the Home as and when required. Maintain good contact with local professional bodies and other relevant persons.
• To assist in the maintenance of a Safe and Healthy Working Environment by ensuring adherence to TCL Health & Safety and Welfare policies and procedures.
• Duty to whistle blow if witness bad practice or harm to a resident within the home.
• Duty to notify the General Manager if the NMC commence an investigation into practice
• To provide leadership and provide advice and expertise on all clinical nurse issues.
• To play a key role in the continuous development of specialist care provision within the Company.
• To liaise with Primary Care Specialists.
• To promote a style of leadership that develops and empowers staff, recognizing achievements and providing support and assistance.
• To represent the Company’s interests and ensure that the implications of the NMC and the standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) are adhered to.
• Maintain an awareness of professional development for the nursing staff.
• Clinical supervision of nursing staff
Operational Planning:
• Implement change and improvement in services and systems including ascertaining and developing the medical competencies of employees
• Assist in the evaluation of quality assurance systems.
• Set work objectives and targets for Nurse Team relating to Continuous Professional Development
• Attend and participate in Team Meetings with the General Manager and other Senior Professionals.
• Co-ordinate admissions of Client’s with high dependency levels and requiring specialist equipment.
• Conduct regular performance reviews with Nurse Team.
Operational Delivery:
• To provide an effective, responsible nursing service support.
• To ensure that the Company meets all the requirements of the Care Quality Commission in matters relating to the quality of its service provided.
• To ensure promotion of the Company’s operational strategy.
• Conduct audits as part of quality assurance system.
• To act as a role model of high quality care provision, to coach, guide and develop staff in delivering a high quality service.
• To liaise effectively with Service users, their carers and other professionals as appropriate.
• To ensure that the Company’s policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

Operational Services:
• Support effective management of staff and resources within the Team.
• Advice in management and control of resources, including people, budgets and training.
• Support the General Manager for the home as required.
• Ensure that the rights of the ‘service user’ are upheld and promoted at all times, assuring principles of choice, respect, dignity and privacy.
• Strive to ensure client satisfaction.
• Undertake Client assessments (when required) in accordance with company standards.
• Support development , implementation and review of management of Care Plans in line with the current assessed needs

THE CANDIDATE:

Qualifications and skills required:
• RN level 1
• Post graduate qualification (desirable)
• 2-5 years of experience in similar position
• Registration with NMC with preparation of revalidation and current PIN
• Managerial, supervisory, teaching and mentoring expertise.
• Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Intensive Care Qualification or Work related experience in ITU/HDU
