A newly opened nursing home offering state of the art facilities for up to 80 residents.  They are a family run business with over 20 years’ experience in owning and running nursing and residential homes.

Their ethos is to always deliver the highest quality of care and offer a truly personalised service, delivering a ‘home away from home’ where residents are enabled to live fulfilled and happy lives. In an industry often dominated by large corporations they thrive off of being a family run. Their sister home in Hampshire, is one of the few nursing homes in the country with an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.  They are excited in putting their knowledge and experience to implement similar standards at their newly refurbished, purpose built home in St Albans.

THE ROLE:

To lead by example, a team of qualified and trained staff, and, role model the best practice in nursing care sector.

(Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required). To positively support the Registered Manager in providing leadership to the administration, care, catering, housekeeping, laundry and maintenance functions of the home.

To deputise for the function of the Registered Manager during their absence, while at all times supporting the decisions made by the Registered Manager.

To maintain care and management skills at a current level, and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain that currency of practice.

To manage the services within the home in accordance with standards agreed with the Registered Manager, Registered Provider, legislative requirements, relevant regulations, and in line with accepted best practice, and within the financial plans agreed from time-to-time with the Registered Provider.

Supervisory responsibilities:

To support and assist the Registered Manager in the management of each of the service functions within the home

Main Duties:

  • Deputise for the Registered Manager during their absence, following agreed policies, procedures and management techniques at all times.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the Registered Manager of the home.
  • Positively and fully support implement the decisions of the Registered Manager. Reconcile differences of approach and opinion with the Registered Manager in private.
  • Create and uphold an open, positive and inclusive management culture.
  • Participate in the development of the home’s policies.
  • Share in the development of strategic plans for the home.
  • Participate in evaluation of the home against agreed organisational goals, as well as business and quality objectives.
  • Work to establish effective employer-employee relationships.
  • Minimise legal risks.
  • Participate in the maintenance of the home’s management information systems.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of care and nursing policies and procedures. Formulate and implement care policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the standards required by legislation related to the registration of the home.
  • Act within the home’s budget based on the home’s objectives and within the projected revenue.
  • Work in a cost-effective manner.
  • Be involved in the design and implementation and maintenance of the home’s quality assurance programme.
  • Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision. Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise.

THE CANDIDATE:

The candidate must be a qualified nurse with relevant experience in a nursing home environment.
